Heroism or Homocide

Sometimes it is hard to tell the intent of others. Take for example my experience on Wednesday. Brandon was getting an MRI at the New Cottonwood Hospital. We woke up early that day, so we just left Trajen in his PJ's hoping he would fall asleep in the car. Once we arrived, and it was determined that Trajen was up for awhile, I decided to change him into his clothes, and get him out of his newly soiled diaper. Not being familiar with the hospital, I found the closest bathroom. It was one of those one person bathrooms, not gender specific. Sadly, there was not a changing station in this restroom, so I had to change him on the floor. I laid Trajen atop his clothes so he wouldn't get dirty from the floor, and began my task. Trajen normally LOVES his diaper being changed, and is a perfect angel (sarcasm). He decided that this time he would be even more angelic than normal. His screams of torture were sadly unheard, as no one came to his rescue. I had his diaper and shirt on when a sensation of toe nail ripping from the flesh temporarily left me in agony. My big toe nail had been caught on the grate of the floor drain.

Distracted, I let go of Trajen just long enough for him to bound across the room, shove hand to elbow into the toilet water, and splash as much water as possible. Luckily, I was able to come to from the shock of blood pooling into my flip flop before the water left the toilet. I rushed him over the sink and scrubbed him up to his arm pits. Being a big fan of water, he decided he would splash the water about, soaking his nice clean shirt. I quickly finished dressing Trajen, then wrapped my toe in a wet wipe and found my way back to the waiting room. Brandon was still there waiting to get his MRI. I limped in scowling, handed over the soaked baby, then informed Brandon as the father of the child - he could have him.

Obviously Trajen was trying to make my life miserable in his attempt to kill me. However, if you think about it.. if he realized that my toe had been stuck in the grate of the drain.. perhaps he was trying to be heroic by lubricating my toe with the toilet water in an attempt to free it from the grips of the latching demon.

That really makes you ponder. Sometimes when you think someone is trying to make your life miserable they are really doing it for your own good.

I think children are meant to drive us crazy, but I haven't figured out why!!!

Oh, what happened to the "leaping across the room into the toilet" that I though happened?

This is the third version of this story I have heard. I'm beginning to think you threw him into the toilet.

Or maybe it was Tiffany, not Trajen, that played in the toilet but she was too embarrassed to say so she had to "make up" the toilet part with Trajen all together. I do feel bad for your toe though.

Wow! That's quite the adventure. I only wish I was there to witness it.
